BUENOS AIRES Jose Luis Chilavert, the colorful Paraguayan international goalkeeper who plays for Argentinian first division side Velez Sarsfield, has been suspended for three matches following a clash with Boca Juniors striker Martin Palermo.
Palermo received a one-match ban after both players appeared before an Argentinian Football Federation (AFA) disciplinary hearing on Thursday, AFP reported.
The two were sent off the pitch following the bust up five minutes before the end of the match which Boca Juniors won 3-1.
The penalty against the 35-year-old Chilavert was heavier as he was suspended for one match last August for insulting behavior during a heated verbal exchange with River Plate Coach Americo Gallego.
