TEHRAN The Exhibition of Contemporary Handicrafts and Artistic works of Iran opened Friday in Gyor, Hungary.

The exhibition consists of a collection of Iranian handicrafts such as inlaid works and engravings, and miniatures, valuable books and historical pictures of Iran.

In the inaugural ceremony, the mayor of Gyor mentioned the cultural commonalities of Iran and Hungary and said that the civilization and culture of Iran has greatly influenced world civilization.

Mr. Akrami, Iran's temporary charge d'affaires in Budapest, said that holding such artistic exhibitions helps the people of the two countries to get to know each other and promotes dialogue among civilizations and cultures.

Akrami added that direct flights between Tehran and Budapest, which began on July 27, will facilitate the coming and going of tourists.
