SHIRAZ -- Director General of Fars Province Standard and Industrial Research Department, Fereydoun Bolqari, said that 24,513 tons of goods exported from Fars Province in the past Iranian year (ending March 20) were verified to accord with the compulsory factors of standardization.

He told IRNA here Saturday that the exported goods were worth Rls. 29.928 billion.

Referring to 394 certificates issued to verify the quality of the exported consignments over the past year, he said that the exemption of the goods marked by standard labels from undergoing an additional quality control and the exemption of some goods from undergoing compulsory standardization tests led to a drop in the number of quality certificates compared to the previous year.

He said that 2,234 industrial items also underwent the standardization test in Fars standard laboratories over the past year.

He added "Also 3,000 measuring devices used in the public transactions, 470 large-scale measuring devices and 377,000 gas cylinders underwent the standardization test at the standard laboratory in Fars Province last year."

He said that four national standard criteria were drawn up in the province over the same period, while 20 more are still being worked on.

He concluded by referring to the implementation of the packing and control laboratory at the markets to block the sale of the low quality goods and to enforce the quality control system as some of the programs of the current year.
