LUXEMBOURG -- Telekom rider Erik Zabel won the first intermediate sprint of the first stage of the Tour de France on Sunday, while France's Laurent Jalabert took third to take the provisional overall lead.

With 124km to go of the 192km opening stage through Luxembourg, FDJ's Christophe Mengin, Lampre's Ludo Dierckxens and AG2R's Stephane Gerges had a three-minute lead over the Peloton.
