TEHRAN - Deputy Chairman of the Assembly of Experts (AE) Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said any adventures against the Islamic Republic of Iran would cost the enemies dearly.

In a meeting of the Assembly of Experts on Sunday night, Rafsanjani said that taking into consideration Iran' military might and the popular support for the system, it would not be wise for any enemy to even think about launching an attack against Iran.

Referring to international developments, the move toward globalization, and Iran's membership in many international organizations, he added that Iran should prepare itself to join the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Rafsanjani, who is also the chairman of the Expediency Council, said that Iran should remove the hurdles created by the U.S. aimed at hindering Iran's WTO membership.

On the second day of the EA meeting some members expressed their views about political issues and international and regional developments.

Pointing to sensitive situations in various parts of the world, Hojjatoleslam Dorri-Najafabadi emphasized the need for recognizing opportunities, readiness, and appropriate planning to thwart the plots of the enemies and the global arrogance, according to the Central News Bureau.

He said that the country enjoys abundant human resources and natural riches and that by appropriately utilizing them an exemplary country with a religious government system can be introduced to the world.

On globalization, he noted that in the current situation people and officials, while maintaining their own thoughts and ideological foundations, should defend their identity and religious democracy.

He went on to say that the people, instead of being ideologically, culturally and morally transformed into the so-called new world order, should maintain their religious values and prepare themselves for the ideological challenges of the enemies which lie ahead.

Hojjatoleslam Hosseini noted the necessity for more EA activity such as answering the questions of the youth in the mass media.
