MOSCOW -- Russia plans to take part in a tender for the enlargement of one of Iran's major thermal power plants in Isfahan, Technopromexport Alliance Chairman Valentin Kuznetsov told Itar-Tass.

According to Kuznetsov, a pertinent commercial proposal has already been dispatched to Iranian authorities, IRNA reported.

He recalled that Technopromexport had built the first eight power generating facilities with a total capacity of 1,600 MWt in Isfahan in the 1980s and 1990s.

In his words, a possibility has offered itself to build two more power-generating units in Isfahan, but in accordance with Iranian laws a new tender must be held for each new project.

According to available information, the delivery of gas turbines from Germany can become an alternative for the Russian variant.

A delegation from Technopromexport has already left for talks with Iranian authorities in Tehran. Kuznetsov said that the parties still have to agree on contractual terms.

"Specific figures are a commercial secret but, as a rule, the difference between the proposals made by the bidders can reach as much as 40 percent," the Russian company leader said.
