Household women’s employment, major quandary
On one side, women have to manage ‘the economy’ and, on the other hand, they see the need to fulfill and deal with their families’ financial requirements, Zohreh Tabibzadeh, presidential advisor on women affairs and head of the Women and Family Affairs Center said here on Thursday.
Visiting Kowsar Training and Entrepreneurship Center, affiliated to Imam Khomeini Relief Committee, Tabibzadeh stressed on marketing and sales of products made by women as one essential strategy toward solving the problem of household women’s employment. “Increasing the number of self-employment centers for household women is vital,” she stipulated, adding, “Creating a permanent fair with the cooperation of the Relief Committee, Tehran Municipality and Mastazafan Foundation is essential.”
Elsewhere in the news, Tehran’s Mayor Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, speaking at another ceremony for paying homage to 1200 family women last Tuesday, stressed that great attention should be paid toward the employment of household women. “Women employment is one of main concern of the municipality. We have taken few steps towards its solution,” he maintained, commenting, “We are in the beginning of this road and a long way is yet to be covered.”
“The main duty of the municipality is solving the citizens’ problems and that is and should be of the officials’ concern,” he noted.
Hoping for the betterment of household women’s life situation, Ghalibaf concluded that solving the employment problem is the priority of city managers.
