TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Volume of non-oil exports from Iran to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) accounted for 16 percent of the country's total non-oil exports in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (started March 20, 2006), director general of the Planning Office of the Trade Development Organization of Iran (TDOI) said.

According to TDOI Public Relation Department, Mehdi Fathollahzadeh added that Iran exported 11.1, 7.6, 5.4 and 5.3 percent of its non-oil commodities to China, Iraq, India and Japan respectively in the aforementioned period.

Natural gas, pistachio, liquefied propane and hydrocarbons are among goods exported to UAE, he added.

He pointed to the Arab country as Iran's most important economic partner in the current Iranian year.

He said that Asia is the largest continent of the world with a population of 3.9 billion people and therefore getting acquainted with markets of Asian countries and producing goods based on international standards can serve to boost the non-oil exports of the Islamic Republic.
