TEHRAN -- Director and actor Seyyed Javad Hashemi began staging “The Steel Window”, a play about Imam Reza (AS), in the main hall of the City Theater Complex yesterday.
The play, which has been written by Mehdi Tavassolo, was previously performed during last year’s Imam Reza (AS) Festival in Mashhad, which is home to the Imam’s shrine.
“Anybody who makes a pilgrimage to the Imam’s shrine is deeply aware of his munificence and favor, and this is something we realized when we were working on this play,” Tavassolo told the Mehr News Agency on Tuesday.
Akbar Abdi and Atieh Ghobeishavi perform the main roles in the play that will run for 30 nights.
The Steel Window refers to a particular window at the shrine where people desperately appeal to Imam Reza to be cured of their illnesses and physical disabilities.
