Baku (IRNA) -- Iranian First Vice President Parviz Davudi and Azeri President Ilham Aliyev on Wednesday inaugurated a bridge over Aras river linking Nakhichevan autonomous republic and Iran's West Azarbaijan town of Poldasht.

Iran has built the 164-meter long bridge called 'Poldasht-Shah Takhti' by spending rls 40 billion.
Shah Takhti is the Azeri town on the opposite side of Iranian town of Poldasht.
Nakhichevan autonomous republic has no land access to the Azerbaijan Republic to which it belongs and inhabitants of the Azeri province go to Azerbaijan through Iran.
Davoudi said that the bridge will provide the people living in the area with an opportunity to develop trade and business.
He said that the Muslim people living in the autonomous republic of Nakhichevan have suffered a lot from hardship over the past several decades and that Iran has voluntarily built the modern bridge to accelerate communication between Iranian town of Poldasht and the Azeri town of Shah Takhti.
The Iranian vice President said that Iran has made contribution to building roads for easy access of the Nakhichevan people to their country and has also helped in development of medical centers of the Azeri province.
