TEHRAN -- Iran’s outstanding singer Shahram Nazeri is very unhappy about the fact that bootleg CDs of some of his performances have been made and are being distributed without his permission.
During a visit to the first edition of the Music Exhibit, which is currently underway at the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA), Nazeri said that only a few authorized CDs of his works have been issued. He called on officials to make a serious decision to protect the intellectual property rights of all artists so they can produce works without anxiety.
“People must be informed and learn how to protect the rights of artists, and these kinds of exhibits create an opportunity for visitors to become better informed,” he observed.
Nazeri also stated that the friendly relationship between Iran’s traditional musicians and singers has unfortunately been shattered, adding, “I believe it is time for all the prominent artists to reunite and let bygones be bygones.”
The Music Exhibit will continue until January 4 at the venue, which is located on Hejab St., Keshavarz Blvd.
The event was organized to provide an opportunity for music product manufacturers, music book publishers, and producers of musical instruments to display their merchandise.
In addition, live music performances and discussion panels are being held on the sidelines of the main exhibition.
