Haddad Adel arrives in Cairo

CAIRO (IRNA) -- Majlis Speaker Gholam Ali Haddad-Adel and his entourage arrived on Tuesday in Cairo to attend a biennial inter-parliamentary meeting of the Islamic countries.

He was formally welcome by Egypt’s Peoples Assembly Vice-Speaker Abul-Aziz Mustafa.
He told reporters at the airport that the visit of Iranian high profile officials to Egypt indicated the significance of relations between the two countries.
Haddad Adel is scheduled to give a keynote speech at the meeting.
The speaker’s visit to Egypt is part of his two-nation tour which will also take him to Sudan.
The speaker’s three-day visit to Egypt is taking place at the official invitation of his Egyptian counterpart Ahmed Fathi Sorour.
In addition to participation in the 5th the fifth OIC parliament speakers’ meeting in Cairo due to begin on Wednesday, the Iranian official is expected to hold talks with a number of senior Egyptian officials on issues of mutual interest, including expansion of Tehran-Cairo cooperation.
Haddad-Adel will also meet with a group of Egypt’s scholars and academic figures.
The speaker will then leave Egypt for Sudan at an official invitation of his Sudanese counterpart Ahmad Ebrahim al-Taher.
Haddad-Adel will confer with Sudanese senior officials, cultural figures and academics on issues of mutual interest.
