TEHRAN - In a letter released on Monday, Tehran mayor Mohammad-Bagher Qalibaf has named Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan as an “honorary Tehran citizen”.

Tehran mayor’s move followed a heated debate at the World Economic Forum in Davos in which the Turkish prime minister told Israeli president Shimon Peres that “when it comes to killing, you know very well how to kill.”
During the panel discussion which the Arab League chief and the UN secretary general were present Erdogan told Peres: “President Peres you are older than me and your voice is very loud. The reason for you raising your voice is the psychology of guilt. I will not raise my voice that much, you should know that. When it comes to killing you know very well how to kill. I know very well how you hit and killed children on the beaches,” he said
Qalibaf called Erdogan’s action a “brave and wise” act and appreciated it.
Qalibaf stated that Erdogan’s bravery “caused joy in the heart of the world’s free-thinking” people.
Turkish prime minister showed that he would not remain silent towards the “blatant crimes against children, women and defenseless people,” he added.
While some officials were silent towards the Zionist regime’s “genocide and war crimes”, Turkish citizens should be “proud” of this reaction, the mayor noted.
He said certainly the Zionist-related media cannot tarnish this “responsible act” by Erdogan and the people of the world endorse it.
“As Tehran mayor and the representative of all Tehrani citizens… I am proud to introduce you as an honorary Tehran citizen.”
“I hope that you and the noble Turkish people… will succeed in resisting against the enemies of the rights of human beings.
