Iran crowned 3-on-3 basketball champ

HANOI - Iran won the championship of the three-on-three basketball competitions in the third Asian Indoor Games (AIG) on Friday.
The team coached by Veselin Matic beat Saudi Arabia 33-9 at the Lanh Binh Thang Gymnasium in Hanoi.Eleven countries took part in the men’s event in two groups with Jordan and Iran top seeded in Group A and B respectively.
Iran was in Group B along with Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan. Group A consisted of Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Nepal, India and Thailand.
This was the first time that three-on-three basketball had officially become an event at the AIG.
Iran has participated in the event with 131 athletes in 16 events. A total of 4,500 athletes from more than 40 countries have taken part in the event which started on October 30 and continues to November 8
