TEHRAN – Iranian weightlifters left Tehran on Friday night to take part in the 2011 Asian Weightlifting Championships which will be held from April 12 to 17 in Tongling, China.

The championships attract more than 300 weightlifters from more than 30 countries and regions.
The competitions feature eight men's categories and seven women's categories, with a total of 135 medals, including 45 golds.
“Iran will participate in the Asian championship with a young team. Nonetheless, we are optimistic that our lifters are capable of winning at least five medals in the event,” Iran weightlifting coach Kourosh Bagheri said
