TEHRAN – Renowned Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi and cinematographer Vittorio Storaro are scheduled to receive the Outstanding Cinematic Duo Award from the 23rd Camerimage International Film Festival for their collaboration on “Muhammad (S), the Messenger of God”, an epic about the childhood of the Prophet of Islam (S).
Camerimage, which is the greatest and most widely recognized festival dedicated to the art of cinematography, will be held in the Polish city of Bydgoszcz from November 14 to 21.
Majidi and Storaro will attend the festival to promote the movie during its European premiere.
Renowned international craftsmen and artists such as editor Roberto Perpignani, special effects designer Scott E. Anderson, makeup designer Gianetto De Rossi and Indian composer A. R. Rahman collaborated in the production as well.
The 39th Montreal World Film Festival opened with the world premiere of the movie earlier in May.
With a budget of over $50 million, the 171-minute movie is the most expensive film ever made in Iran in five years.
