Washington Hosts Seminar on Imam Khomeini Thoughts, Personality

WASHINGTON The Center for Islamic Teachings, situated in the suburbs of Washington D.C., organized a seminar in which the participants reviewed thoughts and personality of the Founder of Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, from different aspects. The gathering, held on Saturday, was attended by over 1,000 Iranian, American, Afghan, Arab and Pakistan Muslims residing in the U.S. Dr. Adnan, a lecturer at Harvard University spoke about Imam Khomeini's personality from mystical point of view and recalled his letter to the then president of former Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev and how the Imam's forecast caught the entire world by surprise.

Another speaker at the seminar, Ms Anissa Abdol Fattah who is the head of a research center in Washington, said that Imam Khomeini promulgated divine teachings among world Muslims. Pointing to the French Revolution, Ms Anissa said that Zionism has employed democracy as a means to sow discord among world nations, either in West or East, adding that secularism is also a brain child of Zionism. She called on world Muslims to get united and follow the Imam's guidelines for confrontation with the danger of Zionism which she termed as the ultimate enemy of Islam. Iran's representative to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Abbas Mirakhor and Hojjatoleslam Hejazi, prayer leader of the Center for Islamic Teachings also elaborated on the role of leadership.

Abdolalim Musa, an Islamic activist and prayer leader of the mosque in the Slum of Washington, stressed relationship between the leader and his followers. He said such a relationship in the course of the Islamic Revolution was so consolidated that people, like their leader, braved all the hardships and realized the revolution. (IRNA)
