altTEHRAN – The Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned Swiss Ambassador to Tehran Livia Leu Agosti on Wednesday to protest the resolution that condemns Tehran’s alleged plot to assassinate the Saudi Arabian ambassador to Washington, Adel al-Jubeir.

The United Nations General Assembly on November 18 approved the resolution by a vote of 106 to 9, with 40 abstentions.

Iran and the United States do not have diplomatic relations, and the Swiss Embassy in Tehran hosts the U.S. Interests Section in Iran.

The U.S. claimed on October 11 that it thwarted a plot by two men linked to Iran’s security services to assassinate the Saudi Arabian ambassador to Washington.
