TEHRAN – An audio version of the divan of Iranian poet Parvin Etesami (1907-1940) has recently been released in Armenia.

Recited in the Armenian language by famous reciter Aida Asaturian, the audiobook contains a selection of Etesami’s poetry published by Iran’s Cultural Office in Armenia in collaboration with the Mehr, an Iranian-Armenian Cultural Club.

The producers believe that the audiobook helps Armenian scholars to become more familiar with Persian culture and civilization and get to know the deep culture of Iran.

Parvin Etesami was one of the most prominent Persian poets of the 20th century. Her first anthology of poems was published in 1935. Her poetry is themed upon social, humanitarian and mystical concepts, and contains no allusions to romantic love or feminine sentiments.

She died from Typhoid fever in 1940 in Tehran and was buried near her father in Qom.
