TEHRAN – The Iranian Defense Ministry has called for an amendment to a bill under which Iran would join the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict, the IRIB reported on Tuesday.

The bill, which had been proposed to the Majlis by the ministry earlier, would enable Iran to join the protocol which supports the rights of children in armed conflicts.

The bill has been temporarily put off the Majlis agenda for amendment by the ministry.
