Iranian films win awards at Slemani festival

TEHRAN – Several Iranian films won awards at the first edition of the Slemani International Film Festival, which was held in the Iraqi city of Slemani (Sulaymaniyah) from October 1 to 4.
Shahram Alidi’s “Black Horse Memories” won the special jury award in the international competition while Kamal Parnak won the Golden Oak for the best director for “Hasti” in the international short competition.
In addition, cinematographer Amin Jafari received an honorable mention for his collaboration on “Drum” by Keyvan Karimi.
The best film award in the international section went to “Absolution” directed by Petri Kotwica from Finland while Manaussos Manoussakis from Greece won the award for best director for “Cloudy Sunday”.
Iranian cinematographer Turaj Aslani was one of the jury members of the festival.
