Thai delegation holding roadshow in Iran to deepen tourism ties

TEHRAN – A delegation from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is holding multistage roadshow in Tehran and Shiraz, holding talks with some travel businesses in a bid to deepen bilateral ties.

Led by Tanes Petsuwan, the TAT deputy governor for international marketing in Europe, Africa, Middle East and Americas, the delegation launched the roadshow at Espinas Palace Hotel in Tehran on April 16. Revolving around the central theme “Value for Experiences”, the session was held in partnership with Mahan Air.

The second leg of the roadshow will be held tommorow at Grand Hotel of the city of Shiraz in collaboration with Qatar Airways. 

In line with the Thailand 4.0 model, TAT aims to promote a value-based economy-driven by innovation and creativity, delivering creative tourism.

The delegation is set to hold the same roadshow at Grand Hyatt Doha on April 20 in partnership with the Qatari airline, just days before the Arabian Travel Market gets underway from April 24 to 27, Trade Arabia reported on Saturday.

“Promoting the local experience will not only benefit visitors, but also the local people as well as travel agents. We strongly believe that each local community of Thailand can deliver distinctive, genuine, unique hospitality and Thai culture with new exciting experiences to tourists. Also, this will create new and unique quality products for travel agents to offer to their customers,” Trade Arabia quoted Petsuwan as saying on Sunday.

In 2016, Thailand welcomed 585,633 tourists from the Middle East including Iran, generating an income of more than 40 million Thai Baht, a 15 percent increase year on year. (1 USD = 34.2705 THB)
