TEHRAN – Iran tourism body has selected twenty international travel fairs for participation during the current Iranian calendar year 1398 (ending on March 19, 2020), Mehr reported.

“A total of 20 [travel] fairs have been put on agenda following an inquiry from various tourism associations to set up a list of foreign exhibitions and adapt it to the list of target countries and target markets,” said Mohammad-Ebrahim Larijani, the director of advertising and marketing office of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization.

Cultural scenes, attractions, customs, performance arts of Iranian provinces and communities as well as capacities of domestic and foreign media have been taken into account for preparing the shortlist, the official explained.

The list comprises Azerbaijan International Travel and Tourism Fair; China Outbound Travel & Tourism Market; ITB Berlin; India International Travel & Tourism; FITUR tourism trade fair; and East Mediterranean International Tourism & Travel Exhibition.

Having hospitable people, rich history, picturesque sceneries, centuries-old traditions, wide regional cuisine and 22 World Heritage sites, Iran has many to offer its visitors.

According to data compiled by the CHHTO, the country hosted 7.8 million foreign nationals during the year 1397 (March 2018-March 2019), a 52.5 percent hike from a year earlier.
