“Lotus” director Mohammadreza Vatandoost honored at Beirut festival

TEHRAN – Mohammadreza Vatandoost from Iran was selected as best director for his acclaimed documentary “Lotus” at the 18th Beirut International Film Festival, the organizers announced on Sunday. 

The film tells the story of an old woman who is waiting for a permit to enter an island to visit her son’s grave.

“McQueen” co-directed by Ian Bonhote and Peter Ettedgui from England received the audience award, while “Facing Death with a Wire Cutter” by Sarwar Abdullah from Iraq was picked as best documentary.
