LONDON Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger wants Dutch international striker Dennis Bergkamp to see out his playing days at the London club.
Wenger was quoted in the Sunday Mirror tabloid as saying he would be discussing a new contract with 31-year-old Bergkamp later this week.
"He is a world class player," Wenger said. "You don't lose that at 31... I want him to stay here for the rest of his playing career.
Bergkamp's Dutch-based agent Rob Jansen told the Sunday Mirror he expected the player to sign a new deal, believed to be for three or four years, within a few days.
"Dennis doesn't want to leave Arsenal... He would be very receptive to an offer from Highbury," said Jansen.
