Global Music Award for Iranian project
TEHRAN-The music album “Tar & History” project by musician Midya Farajnejad has received two prizes at the Global Music Awards.
As an Iranian contemporary folk instrumentalist, Farajnejad received a Gold Medal. Naghmesazan recording studio and music production center also won a Gold Medal as the producer of the project, ILNA reported.
“Tar & Tarikh” is a project that started about 2 years ago. In this project, hundreds of musical works have been produced for the historical monuments of Iran. Farajnejad has composed music based on its geography, architecture and general conditions. He uses various musicians and singers from all over Iran to perform each piece.
Farajnejad, 40, learned music from his mother who was one of the students of maestro Hasan Kamkar. His grandfather was also an instruments maker.
During his adolescence he started to play the Tar and continued it with all his passions in his own privacy for four years.
He started to study Tar under instruction of his first teacher Keyvan Yahyazadeh in 2000. Then in 2002, he went to Sooreh Art University and graduated as a composer and Tar player.
He was also trained by the other different masters such as Ata Janguk, Hamid Sokuti, and Abdolnaghi Afsharnia.
Then he completed his knowledge about music, Radif (the traditional classic repertoire, balladry and assimilation of Persian poet and music under supervision of maestro Mohsen Nafar.
He composed and published his first album in 2007 and has since composed several albums and held many concerts.
In 2020 he started an online talent identification project named as “Avaz-e Moaser”. In this project, he and his colleagues succeeded in judging and introducing many unknown Persian traditional vocalists inside and outside the country.
Established in 2011, the Global Music Awards is a well-known international music competition which celebrates independent musicians.
Each year, Global Music Awards receives hundreds of entries from around the world. Selected winners will receive opportunity for a mentoring session with top echelon industry insiders. The event will help the winners to be discovered by A&R executives, labels and booking agents.
This year, about 20,000 music artists from all over the world participated in the Global Music Awards
