WARSAW Polish police said Sunday they had prevented a rally of some 150 neo-Nazis in the provincial town of Jablonna, turning back groups of Skinheads as they arrived for the gathering.
A spokeswoman said police carried out identity checks at the railway station at Lublin, near Jablonna, on Saturday.
Police prevented a similar gathering last month in the town of Paslek in northern Poland, seizing fascist and Nazi leaflets and busts of Adolf Hitler.
According to AFP, last week Poland's culture minister ordered the closure of a controversial Warsaw exhibit of photos of actors depicting Nazis in film.
The exhibition had been mired in controversy after one of Poland's best-known actors sneaked into the state-owned Zacheta Gallery last week and destroyed several photos of himself and French actor Jean-Paul Belmondo with a sword.
Daniel Olbrychski, one of the stars of the film The Tin Drum, complained the exhibit had "misappropriated" his image and glorified Nazis as it provided no information about the photos or World War II.
