SRINAGAR, India -- At least one person was killed and 12 wounded on Friday when a bomb planted by suspected Islamic rebels exploded in the heart of revolt-racked Kashmir's main city, Srinagar, Reuters reported. The blast came as India weighed its response to a raid on an Indian army camp earlier this week in which 34 people were killed including the attackers, believed to be Pakistan-based Islamic militants fighting India's rule in disputed Kashmir. "Most probably the bomb was planted by militants" using a boobytrapped bicycle, a police official told Reuters. Some of the wounded were in critical condition. No further details were available. No militant group has claimed responsibility for the blast in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, India's only Muslim-majority state where a separatist revolt has been raging since 1989.
