KARACHI -- Pakistan and Azerbaijan on Tuesday signed an agreement to enhance defense cooperation, AFP quoted officials as saying.
The agreement was signed between the visiting Azeri Defense Minister Colonel General Safar Abiyev and Pakistani Defense Secretary Hamid Nawaz Khan in the southern city of Karachi, a Defense Ministry statement said.
The agreement covers military training and exercises, exchange of personnel and information and cooperation in defense science and industries, it said.
"The signing of this agreement will further strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries, particularly in the field of military and defense production," the ministry said.
A five-day international defense exhibition is being held in Karachi amid tight security following suicide bomb attacks against Western targets earlier this year.
