TEHRAN - Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani has called on the lawmakers to refrain from impeaching Iran’s Economy Minister Ali Tayebnia.
“The economy minister is a hard-working member of the cabinet and we hope that the impeachment is not carried out,” Khabaronline news website quoted Larijani as saying on Sunday.“Majlis has the right to impeach ministers, but I believe that Tayyebnia is a devoted minister,” he added.
Last week Tayyebnia failed to convince MPs of its economic plans during a questioning session in the Majlis. It was the third time he failed to do so, giving the MPs a chance to move for impeachment.
