MPs voice support for Leader’s remarks
TEHRAN - Members of the Iranian Parliament have, in a statement, expressed their backing for recent comments by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei by reaffirming their obedience to his instructions.
In the statement, the parliamentarians underscored that the enemy is overtly hatching plots to deal a blow to the country, an open reference to the January riots backed by the U.S. and Israel.
The MPs said attempts by the U.S. and Israel to sow discord and hatch plots against the country were foiled thanks to the people’s vigilance and support for the Islamic Republic.
“We reiterate our obedience to the Leader’s instructions,” the MPs said.
They said the enemy’s schemes to stir sedition have not ended, urging officials and people to vigilantly and firmly maintain their awareness.
The statement came one day after Ayatollah Khamenei reacted to U.S. threats against Iran.
As more American warships move toward the waters near Iran, the Leader warned that those vessels represent greater danger to the United States than to Iran, because in the event of conflict, they would be sunk.
Speaking to thousands of people from Tabriz ahead of the anniversary of the city's historic 1978 uprising, the Leader characterized the U.S. president's threatening statements as a clear expression of their intent to dominate the Iranian nation.
He emphasized that, despite the threats of war, the Americans understand that, due to their political and economic challenges and the potential damage to their international reputation, they cannot sustain such rhetoric.
The Leader added, "They are aware of the consequences they would face if they make a mistake."
Ayatollah Khamenei, responding to Trump’s repeated boasts about commanding the world’s strongest military, said that sheer power does not guarantee victory. “Even the strongest military force can be struck so hard that it cannot rise again.”
Commenting on another U.S. threat—the dispatch of a second warship toward Iran—the Leader stated: "While a warship is indeed a dangerous piece of military hardware, what is even more dangerous is the weapon capable of sending that warship to the bottom of the sea."
Highlighting Trump’s admission of the inability to eliminate the Islamic Republic even after 47 years since the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei remarked: "This is a significant acknowledgment. I would also assert that you will not succeed, because the Islamic Republic is not a government separate from its people; it is founded upon a living, steadfast, and resilient nation."
Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out that the numerous economic, political, and social issues facing the U.S. are indicative of the decline and impending end of the American empire.
"The problem the U.S. has with us is its desire to dominate Iran, but the Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic stand firmly in the way of that goal," the Leader asserted.
This comes as Trump has, time and again, used the language of threat against Iran, boasting about the U.S. military buildup in the region.
