International Federation of Social Workers expresses sympathy with Iran amid U.S.-Israeli war
TEHRAN - Joachim Cuthbert Mumba, the president of the International Federation of Social Workers, has expressed sympathy and solidarity with the Iranian Social Workers Association during the U.S.-Israeli imposed war against the country.
“I express my deepest admiration and solidarity to you who are on the front lines of care, support, and resilience in society. Your work fosters hope, human dignity, and healing, even in the most difficult times,” the IFSW president wrote to Hassan Mousavi-Chalak, the head of the Iranian Social Workers Association.
“These attacks, which have made our tense times even more tense, are a cause for deep concern for the security, peace, and health of people throughout Iran; while violence against nations has never been the right path.”
“In this time of uncertainty, fear, and turmoil, my heart is with you. True power lies in compassion, understanding, and dialogue, not violence. Please know that many people around the world are praying for your safety and well-being and for your families and for an end to the violence. I hope that the spirit of dialogue, empathy, and humanity will defeat war and that your courage will be a light in these difficult days.”
Pascal Rudin, the IFSW interim secretary-general, also wrote a letter to Mousavi-Chalak, saying: “We are thinking of you and your colleagues in these very difficult days. Reports of escalating tensions and attacks in several cities and their increasing impact on humanitarian services are deeply concerning.
He added: "I sincerely hope that you (social workers), your families and your service teams are safe and that you can get through this very difficult situation."
