NEW DELHI -- A court in the southern State of Kerala has denied the petition of a Christian lawyer who sought to overturn a law barring non-Hindus from entering Hindu places of worship, reports said Friday. The Kerala High Court on Thursday dismissed a petition by William John, a Christian lawyer, who argued that the law violated fundamental rights under India's Constitution.
John contended that Hindu temples are managed by the government and therefore entrance to them cannot be restricted on the basis of religion.
