In the meeting, Abul Hasan, referring to Iran’s pivotal regional role, expressed Kuwait’s belief that it is time for development of cooperation between Kuwait and Iran in various fields.
"We are confident that Iranian and Kuwaiti news media can play decisive role in strengthening favorable relations between the two states," he added.
He hoped to visit Tehran by the end of the fasting month of Ramadhan to hold talks with Iranian officials on matters of mutual interest.
For his part, Mousavi declared the plan to establish the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) representative office in Kuwait. Underlining the need to implement the cultural agreements inked by the two states, he said, "The two friendly and neighboring states have managed to achieve significant success in all fields, specially in the media sector,"
Turning to the recent agreement reached between the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) and Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), he said that both news agencies should attempt to implement the signed document.
According to a memorandum of understanding signed by Managing Director of IRNA Abdollah Nasseri and his Kuwaiti counterpart from KUNA, Jasem Mohammad Ahmad al-Ajiri, the two news agencies agreed to promote bilateral professional cooperation including exchange of news and holding joint training courses.
