Over 140 Actors to Play in “Mokhtar-nameh” TV Series

TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) -- Over 140 actors are expected to play in the TV series “Mokhtar-nameh” directed by leading director Davoud Mirbaqeri. “Mokhtar-nameh” is the 6th TV series directed by Mirbaqeri, which includes 26 episodes. The series depicts the life of Mokhtar Saqafi, leader of the main uprising formed after the events of Ashura (Muharram 10th, the day Imam Hussein

[AS] was martyred).

The story begins at the time of the Imamate of Imam Hasan (AS), reviewing the events leading to the martyrdom of the Imam and ending in the time of Mokhtar’s youth. In the second part, it reviews 16 years of Mokhtar’s life such as the death of Mu’aviyeh, the succession of Yazid ibn-Mu’aviyeh, and the events leading to Ashura and whatever related to the uprising of Mokhtar till the time of his martyrdom and that of his companions.

TV producer Mahmoud Fallah announced that director Mirbaqeri is currently busy rewriting the film script. The stage designers are also following up the construction of the different decorations and locations. Fallah added that the filming of the series is estimated to take 6 months beginning in January 2004.

Commissioned by Sima Film, the series is to be over before Norouz 1384 (March 2005).
