TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki in a meeting with the Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said here Sunday that Iran's stable and sustainable policy is based on defending the Palestinians' rights.

The minister said that Muslim countries and nations will not spare any effort to defend the resistance of the Palestinian people and support materialization of Palestine's legitimate rights.

Turning to the current situation in Palestine, he said that signs of the Palestinians victory are observed by the world people.

"The U.S. wrong strategies on approaching the result of Palestinian election and the victory of Hamas show the dual standard in materializing democracy," he added.

Expounding on the U.S. policies on the Palestinian people, the minister said that its unilateral policies and support for Israel will intensify injustice and increase the resistance of the Palestinian people in emphasizing their rights.

On his part, Haniyeh referred to Iran's great civilization and said that the Iranian people are highly civilized and that Muslims take pride in Iran's defense of Palestinians rights.

"Iran's support for the Palestinian people in the international assemblies shows the basis of the Iranian Muslim nation's belief," he added.

Haniyeh briefed the Iranian minister on the savage policies of the Zionist regime on the Palestinian people.

"Throwing obstacles on the way of the Palestinian government in its exchanges with the outside world, the economic sanction on the domestic scene, daily martyrdom of Palestinian people and imposing various bottlenecks on the government's way aim to affect Hamas and make them give up to the Zionist regime's calls," he said.

The Palestinian prime minister said that despite the great pressure exerted by the Zionist regime, the resistance of the Palestinian people will eventually result in victory.
