TEHRAN – A congress of empowering women to face natural disasters, accidents and violence held in Mashhad, Khorasan Province, on Wednesday, the Women Bureau of Iran’s Red Crescent Society reported.

The project is directed at promoting women’s contribution to Red Crescents’ activities and improving the situation of vulnerable strata of society, IWNA quoted the General Manager of the Women Bureau of Iran’s Red Crescent Society Fatemeh Zaferani.

At this conference the women specialists at Iran’s Red Crescent Society were invited to offer more cooperation and train other women, she stipulated.

The project, which is currently underway with the assistance of International Federation of Red Crescent Society and the Red Cross, began in 2005 and is to be continued through 2007.
