DAMASCUS (Press TV) -- A Syrian Parliament member has slammed the Zionist regime's calls to suspend bilateral relations with Iran.

In an article posted on Syria News on Saturday, Mohammad Habash condemned Ehud Olmert's request from Syrian officials to suspend all ties with Iran in order to resume peace talks. "Establishing peace with such harsh and hostile language is impossible."

He added that Israel had expressed interest in engaging in peace talks with Syria only if Damascus would agree to cut ties with 'terrorism'. "We agree that all sides involved in the peace negotiations must condemn terrorism, the problem is defining the term."

He underlined Syria's refusal to label resistance groups such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad as terrorist organizations.
