TEHRAN (Press TV) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki says world powers must be held accountable for allowing and assisting in the ‘genocide’ in Gaza.

“The crisis in Gaza and the genocide of defenseless Palestinians is being carried out with the approval and assistance of world powers,” Mottaki said during his speech on the sidelines of the Regional Planning Council meeting (RPC) of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Tehran.
Mottaki’s comments came as the Israeli military onslaught entered its 17th day in Gaza, raising the number of Palestinians killed to over 905 and the number of wounded to more than 4,100.
The attacks continue in Gaza despite a binding UN Security Council resolution, passed on Thursday, which called for an ‘immediate and durable’ ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the region.
The U.S. abstained from voting on the resolution, despite having vetoed three previous Council motions for a ceasefire.
Elsewhere, reports indicate that the U.S. is seeking to hire a merchant vessel to deliver a massive shipment of weapons to Israel. The shipment is said to include Guided Bomb Unit-39 (GBU-39), that use GPS to find their way and are able to penetrate deep fortified constructions.
Although the Pentagon denies that the shipment is linked to Tel Aviv’s military campaign in Gaza, The Jerusalem Post reported last week that the first shipment of the missiles arrived in early December, and that the bombs had been used in the military onslaught in Gaza.
