TEHRAN – Judiciary chief Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani ordered the courts to allow eligible prisoners to go on leave for the New Year holidays which start on March 21.

Larijani said the furlough should be granted on bail proportional to the offence.
The order applies to those who have served at least three months of their term, or those committed offences unwittingly, or those imprisoned for committing financial irregularities, particularly those who cannot afford to pay off their debts.
The order excludes those convicted of espionage, kidnapping, murder, organized crime, and attempts against national security.
