TEHRAN – Academy of Persian Language and Literature Director Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel believes that the Persian language is the language of kindness.

He made the statement at the second meeting of “Persian Candy” organized by the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) and attended by students participating in the 82nd Persian Language and Literature Refresher Course, Persian media reported on Monday.

“Language is the key to understanding the culture of nations. The Persian language is the language of science, religion, wisdom, mysticism and philosophy,” he added.

He regarded culture as the spirit of nations and stated, “Every individual has a specific mind, spirit and character to which his personal identity has been attached. Nations also have a collective identity and character which is called the culture of that nation.”

Haddad-Adel who is also the Sadi Foundation Director said that before the establishment of the foundation, ICRO was responsible for teaching Persian to foreign students, “I ask you to feel at home and consider the foundation as your home in Iran. You can ask the Sadi Foundation any questions you have about Persian.”

Addressing the participating students, he continued, “While all of us who have gathered in this place belong to different countries, we have one thing in common and that is we are all citizens of one land named the Persian language and have sat at a huge spread which is the spread of Persian language and literature.”

ICRO Director Abuzar Ebrahimi Torkaman, also attending the meeting, called the Persian language a window to a millennial culture.

He added that the Persian language causes an individual to draw closer to spirituality and the supernatural world.

“Praise of God is seen in every part of the poetry by Persian poets such as Hafez and Sadi,” he added.

He expressed hope that the students would help familiarize people of their countries with the culture and civilization of Iran when they return home.
