Iran was defeated against the U.S. 3-2 (25-18, 25-18, 21-25, 12-25,15-10) at the FIVB Men’s U21 World Championship and finished in 12th place.

The Iranian team lost to the U.S. for the second time in the competitions.
Captain of the U.S. John Hatch was the most effective player with 14 points, while Colby Harriman finished with 10.
Salim Cheperli led Iran with 11 points, while Amin Esmaeilnezhad scored seven.
""For the environment, I liked to play against Mexico, this was a great match and I really enjoyed it. There were good teams, good players and good volleyball,"" Farhad Nafarzadeh, coach of Iran, told fivb.org.
Iran lost to China, Brazil, the U.S. (twice) and Poland and beat Cuba, Japan and Mexico in the competition.

Russia won the title after defeating Argentina 3-2 and China came third beating Brazil 3-1.
