Tehran exhibit to hang works by Iranian female photographers

TEHRAN – An exhibition of photos reintroducing the society of Iranian female photographers will open in Tehran’s Shirin Gallery on Friday.
“A wide variety of photos in different genres by 26 female photographers will go on display in the exhibit,” Amir-Hossein Heshmati, who is in charge of the exhibit, said in a press conference held at the gallery on Tuesday.
“This exhibit aims to highlight works by three generations of female photographers. I selected the photographers based on my own interests; of course, I consulted with some of my friends as well,” he added.
“I could also have chosen a special theme for the exhibit but preferred that the photographers feel they are showing a collection of their own photos in a solo exhibit. That is why each photographer is attending with a different number of photos and each has written a separate note about her collection,” he added.
Rana Javadi, Hengameh Golestan, Ghogha Bayat, Shadi Qadirian, Nazli Abbaspur, Baran Jafari, Gohar Dashti and Yalda Moayyeri are among the photographers whose photos will be on exhibit.
A book of for the exhibit containing one photo by each photographer in addition to their short resumes will be published in Persian and English by the Sur Publications under the supervision of Naghmeh Qasemlu.
The exhibit will be running until November 2 at the gallery located at No. 5, 13th St., Karim Khan Ave.
