“The Last Birthday” to go on screen at Tasveer Oscar-qualifying festival

TEHRAN –Iranian movie “The Last Birthday” by Tehran-based Afghan director Navid Mahmudi is scheduled to go on screen at the 18th edition of Tasveer South Asian Film Festival (TSAFF).

The Academy Award-qualifying event will take place in the U.S. city of Seattle from October 11 to 22. 

“The Last Birthday” tells the story of Soraya, a female journalist, who has been trying to spread news of the difficult situation of Afghan women to the world for years. This issue exposes her career. Taliban forces surprise Soraya and her friends once they arrest her at home on her birthday. 

Tasveer South Asian Film Festival offers a platform for South Asian storytellers from all over the world to showcase their talent through various mediums such as films, workshops, and panel discussions.
