Tehran cultural center to review “The Teachers' Lounge”

TEHRAN- The Teachers' Lounge, a 2023 German drama film directed by İlker Çatak, will go on screen at the Arasbaran Cultural Center in Tehran on Sunday. 

A review session will be held with the presence of the film critic Kurosh Jahed after the screening. 

"The Teachers' Lounge" is about Carla Nowak, a dedicated and passionate teacher faced with a moral dilemma that ultimately challenges her ideals.

When one of Carla's students is suspected of theft, she refuses to simply accept the accusation and instead takes it upon herself to uncover the truth. However, as Carla delves deeper into the investigation, she finds herself caught between her principles and the confines of the bureaucratic school system. The consequences of her actions begin to unravel her stability and threaten to shatter everything she holds dear.

"The Teachers' Lounge" has garnered significant recognition and acclaim since its release. The film was honored with a nomination to compete for the Panorama Audience Award at the prestigious 73rd Berlin International Film Festival, where it premiered on February 18, 2023, captivating audiences from around the world.

Adding to its list of prestigious accolades, "The Teachers' Lounge" was named one of the top five international films of 2023 by the esteemed National Board of Review. 

In addition to these accomplishments, the film was also selected as the official German entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 96th Academy Awards.
