13th Tehran International Animation Festival kicks off

TEHRAN-The 13th Tehran International Animation Festival (TIAF) kicked off on Sunday at the Cultural and Artistic Creations Center of the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (Kanoon) in Tehran.

A total of 334 works from 42 countries form the lineup for the festival, screened in the National and International categories, ILNA reported.

The animated films have been selected from among 1,328 Iranian and foreign animations from 72 countries received by the festival secretariat.

In the National section, 139 animations will be shown and a total of 195 works, including 33 from Iran and 162 from other countries, are set to be screened at the event.

The foreign countries participating in this year’s edition of the festival include Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Canada, China, India, Ireland, the U.S, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Poland, Spain, Portugal, Russia, and South Korea among others.

The festival comprises four sections, namely Competition, Out of Competition, Special Screenings, and Panorama. Several specialized workshops have also been organized to be held during the event. The 8th National Animation Market has also been launched concurrent with the 13th edition of the festival.

Tehran International Animation Festival is held every two years, aiming at creating an appropriate context for the exchange of ideas and techniques in animation and also as a ground for purposeful collection and presentation of works, the discovery of capabilities, and encouragement for those new to the realm of animation to creativity and innovation; It also aims at developing capabilities while introducing techniques and new approaches for achieving a higher quality in animation productions.

Organized by Kanoon, the 13th TIAF will conclude on March 10.
