Foreign ministers of Iran and Iraq discuss regional security

TEHRAN- Iranian Foreign Miniter Hossein Amir Abdollahian and his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein on Tuesday spoke over the phone about bilateral ties and regional security.

They highlighted the necessity of maintaining the good momentum and carrying out agreements reached by the high-ranking officials of the two nations.

They also talked about the most recent changes in bilateral ties, mentioning the two presidents’ meeting during the most recent Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit in Algeria.

In order to improve security in the region, the two leading diplomats emphasized the significance of stepping up talks and collaboration.

The foreign ministers also spoke about the state of affairs in Gaza, highlighting the necessity of stepping up diplomatic efforts and endeavors to put an end to the hostilities and guarantee the prompt delivery of humanitarian supplies to the coastal Palestinian enclave.

Abdollahian wishes blessings for Muslims during Ramadan  

Also, Amir Abdollahian wished his counterparts in Islamic countries a happy beginning in the fasting month of Ramadan.

He sent greetings to his peers on Wednesday to cherish the start of Ramadan.

The Iranian foreign minister also called for Muslim unity to realize the great goals of Islam and stressed the necessity of Islamic unity to counter the atrocities committed by the Zionist regime against the Palestinian people.

Amir Abdollahian pointed to the critical state of affairs in Gaza under Israeli siege and the imperative for the Islamic community to forcefully counter provocateurs.

Abdollahian congratulates Pakistan FM 

In a message on Tuesday, Amir Abdollahian also congratulated Mohammad Ishaq Dar on his appointment as the foreign minister of Pakistan.

“I sincerely congratulate Your Excellency on your worthy appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the friendly and neighboring country of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan,” he said. 

Iran's top diplomat went on to say, “I am confident that in the light of the will of the political leaders of the two countries and the efforts of the diplomatic institutions of Iran and Pakistan, we will see the continuation of cooperation between the two sides in various bilateral and multilateral fields.”

“I take this opportunity and wish you health and success, and pride and progress for the government and nation of Pakistan.”
