TEHRAN Two politically active Iranians supported the Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, who this week met with the heads of three branches of government and gave guidelines for reform in the country.
Labor House Secretary General Alireza Mahjoub and Tehran University Professor Hojjatoleslam Mostafa Raeisi said, "The Leader rightly pointed out that the most important ingredients of reform are eradication of poverty, discrimination and corruption from society." Mahjoub pointed out that reforms began when the Islamic Revolution succeeded in 1979. "Now we have certain irregularities in society which must be removed through a comprehensive plan of reform.
We must have reform in all areas of activity including political, economic, social and cultural affairs," he insisted.
"If we want to remove discrimination from society, we have to put justice into practice, as without it we cannot treat all equally," said Mahjoub. "We have not yet been able to succeed in translating the guidelines of the Leader into practice; now is the time to do it." Raeisi believes that peace in society is the best reform.
"If we really believe in reform, we must do all to eradicate discrimination in society," Raeisi emphasized. "But unfortunately, despite frequently chanting slogans, President Khatami has not been able to do anything to remove discrimination." "If discrimination is not removed and justice does not become the order of the day, then we have done nothing for the revolution." Raeisi emphasized that if we follow the law and remove discrimination, then most of our social problems will be solved.
