Branding to boost tourism in Torbat-e Jam villages

TEHRAN - A local tourism official believes a new push for branding and proper marketing is essential for having sustainable tourism for the villages of Torbat-e Jam county in Khorasan Razavi province.

Head of Torbat-e Jam Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Department Faramarz Saber-Moqaddam told ISNA that Torbat-e Jam has unique tourism potentials in east of the province. 

He emphasized the importance of introducing the indigenous capacities, adding the available capacities should be introduced properly for attracting the tourists and increasing economic prosperity of the tourist villages.

Saber-Moqaddam said that the targeted advertising in domestic and foreign markets can play a great role in attracting the tourists to Torbat-e Jam.

Branding is not just introduction of the products or attractions. Rather, it is creation of a lasting identity that invites the tourists to a pure and unique experience. 

He emphasized the necessity of monitoring and evaluating the ecotourism sites, adding that this city is located in eastern tourism corridor of the country. Therefore, existence of four eco-lodges in Torbat-e Jam makes it necessary to monitor the quality of services, he pointed out.

These evaluations will boost improvement in services, he said.

Saber-Moqaddam reiterated that ecotourism sites as major tourism destinations should have high level of quality and services to address the needs of tourists. 

Pointing to high potentials of Torbat-e Jam in tourism sector, he said this county has over 67 historical sites registered on National Heritage List. Over 130 other historical monuments have been identified, he added. 

Torbat-e Jam with population around 230,000, of whom 125,000 live in cities, has five cities and 154 villages with above 20 households .

The county is located 160 kilometers in southeast of Mashhad. It has borders with Afghanistan in East.
