Ganji Sues Former Majlis Speaker Over Statements

TEHRAN Akbar Ganji has filed a complaint with a Tehran court against former parliamentary speaker Ali Akbar Nateq Nouri for defamatory statements allegedly published in a leading newspaper.

Ganji is suing the former parliamentary speaker for statements made in an interview with the Persian daily **** Kayhan ****, which said this journalist was a radical in the aftermath of the Islamic Revolution.

The former parliamentary speaker, in the interview, accused Ganji of taking the law into his hands on several occasions by harassing and beating girls and women without proper Islamic dress.
